What We Know
If you are contemplating a campaign in the $500,000 - $5,000,000 range and you have approximately 1,000 living alumni/members:
1. The 80-20 rule will apply (80%+ of the money contributed will come from 10- 20% of those who give).
2. You should expect 20-40% participation.
3. Almost always, a lead gift of 10-20% of the campaign goal is necessary.
4. The likelihood of $5,000 + gifts is very low over the telephone or through the mail: Nothing substitutes for a face-to-face visit.
